11A – Idea Napkin No. 1

1) My name is Nick Scibilia and I am a sports management student at the University of Florida. My talents include being very tech-savvy, negotiating, and stock trading. I am very fond of the concepts of general business, and the business aspect revolving sports... hence my major decision. My aspiration is to revive a failed idea, make it what it could have been because I believe just because it didn't work the first time the idea isn't a dead idea; it may have just been mismanaged, and with proper aspirations and determination it could flourish. Barstool Sports is a great company, but it's more Barstool than sports now. I plan to create something they should have a long time ago.

2) I'm providing customers the service of pure, realistic, intelligent, and relatable entertainment of sportscasting news, a SportsCenter with a kick.

3) The demographic of my customers range from a sports fanatic to someone who likes to dabble in the sports realm. Since my idea will be fairly adult humor and entertainment based, I would say 16 and up, but with technology these days kids are exposed to adult humor at younger ages so I would say 12 and up. Not saying this is a good thing for kids of that age, but it would still be attracted by many. As we all can probably relate, I used to sneak on the adult swim channel to watch Family Guy when I was around that age due to curiosity. So this would be the same case with kids at that age.

4) My initial idea is to have a show on a platform like Netflix, Hulu, or HBO. Millions on top of Millions are already subscribed and paying to watch the shows and movies these platforms have to offer. My big thing will be introducing this on IGTV, Instagram, and Facebook TV, then eventually landing a contracted deal with a big platform for more brand awareness.

5) There are tons of sport casting news shows, the biggest being "SportsCenter" on ESPN. What sets me apart from all of those is the banter and explicit way it is broadcasted on my show, with intelligent humor relating to the opinions of the hosts on each topic discussed and reported. I like to see it as The Daily News Show on Comedy Central, but for sports and with a tad more explicit humor. SOmething fans from everywhere can relate to due to constant arguments between friends and others over sports topics.

I believe these elements all mesh together in the perfect way and I believe that my business has true potential to create a new area in the sportscasting industry. That is why I believe it is so valuable. It is something that is spinning an old way of doing things into a new innovative and entertaining way of reporting sports news.

  1. Hi Nick,

Interesting concept. I think its great to try and revive Barstool Sports to sporting sector. Sporting events bring a lot of money and taking advantage of it is smart. I am concerned about age range, I like you used to watch Nick@night and it wasnt always appropriate. I am wondering if you could set a channel geared towards the younger crowd interested in sports.
